Karl
Rove Starts Young
After the Watergate break-in, it was revealed
that Republican covert political operatives called their
extensive sabotage activities against the Democrats "ratfucking,"
and that the chief ratfucker was Donald Segretti. The
1973 Washington Post story shown below reports that then
Republican National Committee chairman George H.W. Bush
had reopened an investigation into allegations that Karl
Rove, then 23 years old and a protégé of
Segretti, had taught political espionage and dirty tricks
to college Republican organizations in 1971 and 1972.
Rove would go on to greatness as the architect of George
W. Bush's 2000 and 2004 presidential election victories.
